Food on the Genting Dream

One ship, 35+ places to eat & drink

Food is a genuine highlight on the Genting Dream — not an afterthought. The ship has 35+ dining and bar venues spread across multiple decks, blending traditional Asian flavours with international fine dining. Roughly 5 restaurants are complimentary (already included in your cruise fare) and around 15 specialty restaurants are available for an additional charge.

From the casual Lido buffet with a dedicated Halal section, to dramatic Cantonese set-menus at Silk Road, teppanyaki theatre at Umi Uma, and premium Wagyu at Bistro by Mark Best — the ship is built to keep you eating well from breakfast until 2 AM. Late-night cravings? Blue Lagoon serves Singapore hawker favourites 24 hours a day.

A small but important note: the ship is the world's first OIC/SMIIC-certified Halal-friendly cruise ship, with Halal options across the buffet and main dining rooms — and Indian vegetarian / Jain meals are available throughout on request.

From our sailings

Insider Tips for Dining on the Genting Dream

Six things our team learned that the brochure won't tell you.

📲

Book day-one, not later

Specialty restaurants — especially Umi Uma teppanyaki — fill up by the second day. Open the StarDream Cruises app or visit the dining desk the moment you board.

🌙

Blue Lagoon at midnight

The most underrated experience on the ship. SGD 9–15 for proper Singapore hawker food at 1 AM. Honestly worth a midnight visit at least once.

👔

Dress smart for the main dining room

Smart-casual is fine for breakfast and lunch; collared shirts and closed shoes for dinner. Flip-flops & swimwear stay at the pool.

Beat the buffet rush

The Lido peaks 7–9 AM and 7–9 PM. Eat 30 minutes earlier or later for shorter queues and the calmest seating outdoors.

🍷

Drinks add up fast

Cocktails average SGD 14–18, wine glasses SGD 12–16. If you'll have 2+ drinks a day, a beverage package (or Palace fare) usually saves money.

🚱

Don't bring your own alcohol

Unlike some other cruise lines, you can't bring outside alcohol onto the Genting Dream. It will be held at security and returned at the end of the sailing.
