How the Genting Dream is laid out

The Genting Dream spans 18 decks in total — though you won't find a Deck 14 anywhere on the ship. The numbering deliberately jumps from Deck 13 to Deck 15 because the number 4 is considered unlucky in many Asian cultures (it sounds similar to the word for "death" in Cantonese and Mandarin). It's a common practice on Asian-built and Asian-market ships.

Of these 18 decks, 14 are passenger-accessible and 10 decks have cabins — Decks 5, 8 through 13, and 15 through 17. Public venues are concentrated on Decks 6, 7 and 8 (theatre, casino, restaurants, bars) and Deck 16 (main pool, buffet, beach club). The exclusive Palace ship-within-a-ship spans Decks 9–17 for suites with its private facilities on Decks 17–18.

Quick way to remember it: top decks for thrills, middle decks for cabins, lower decks for stability. Below is every deck explained — venues, cabin categories, motion rating and a first-hand tip from our team's sailings.

👫

Couples — best balance

Most-recommended combo

Our pick: Mid-ship Balcony, Deck 11 or 12.
👨‍👩‍👧

Family with kids

Space + fast pool access

Deck 10 Balcony Deluxe near the lifts. Fast access to the kids' water park (Deck 16) and the Little Dreamers Club, but far enough from venues for quiet sleep.

Our pick: Balcony Deluxe Deck 10, mid-ship near lifts.
🌊

Motion-sensitive

Smoothest ride on the ship

Deck 5 or low Deck 9, both mid-ship. Lower + central = least sway. The trade-off is being slightly further from the top-deck action.

Our pick: Deck 5 Balcony Deluxe, mid-ship.
💎

Special occasion

Honeymoon, anniversary

Palace Suite on Deck 12, 13 or 15. Mid-Palace decks combine private Palace facilities with stable mid-ship positioning — the sweet spot of the Palace.

Our pick: Palace Suite, Deck 13 mid-ship.
🎉

Party travellers

Deck 8 cabins put you right by Bar City, the casino zone and Tributes Lounge. Light sleepers should avoid — but if you're up late anyway, it's perfect.

Our pick: Deck 8 Balcony near Bar City.
💰

Budget-first

Cheapest with best stability

Interior on Decks 10–13. You get the most stable cabin levels at the lowest fare — the cabin is just somewhere to sleep, and the ship is the same wherever you are.

Our pick: Interior, Deck 11 or 12 mid-ship.

Deck plan questions

Genting Dream Deck Plan — FAQs

The most common questions our travellers ask about the ship's layout.

How many decks does the Genting Dream have?+
The Genting Dream has 18 decks in total, with 14 passenger-accessible decks. Deck 14 is intentionally skipped — the numbering jumps from Deck 13 to Deck 15. The main cabin decks are 5, 8 through 13, and 15 through 17.
Why is there no Deck 14 on the Genting Dream?+
The number 4 is considered unlucky in many Asian cultures — it sounds similar to the word for "death" in Cantonese and Mandarin. The deck after 13 is therefore numbered 15. This is a common practice on Asian-built and Asian-market cruise ships.
Which deck is best on the Genting Dream?+
Mid-ship cabins on Decks 10, 11 and 12 consistently get the best feedback — most stable in rough seas, quietest, and quick lift access to dining. Deck 5 is the most stable for motion-sensitive guests. Decks 17–18 (Palace) offer the most exclusive experience. Decks 8 and 16 are the busiest because they host the main dining and pool venues.
Which decks have cabins on the Genting Dream?+
Cabins are located on Decks 5, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 15, 16 and 17. Palace suites span Decks 9–17, with private Palace facilities (pool, spa, gym, restaurant) on Decks 17–18. Public-only decks with no staterooms are 6, 7 and 19.
Where is The Palace on the Genting Dream deck plan?+
The Palace is a ship-within-a-ship private enclave that spans Decks 9 to 17 for suites. The Palace Restaurant, Lounge and Reception are on Deck 17, and the private Palace Pool, Sun Deck, Gym and Spa are on Deck 18.
Which deck is the buffet on Genting Dream?+
The Lido — the main international buffet with the dedicated Halal section — is on Deck 16, alongside the main pool deck, kids' water park and Zouk Beach Club.
Which deck is the casino on Genting Dream?+
The Genting Dream has two casino zones. The Main Casino spans Decks 6, 7 and 8 in the heart of the ship, near the bars, shops and theatre. The VIP Casino is on Deck 16 next to premium lounges and private rooms for high-limit play.
Where is the spa on the Genting Dream?+
The Crystal Life Spa, The Salon and the main Gym are all on Deck 15. Palace guests also have a private Palace Gym, Studio and Spa pool on Deck 18.
Where can I download the Genting Dream deck plan PDF?+
You can download the official 2026 Genting Dream deck plan PDF from the download button at the top of this page. It's the printable version issued by StarDream Cruises showing the full floor layout of every deck with cabin codes and venue legends.
Where is the kids' club on the Genting Dream?+
The Little Dreamers Club (ages 2–12) and the Arcade & Teen Zone are on Deck 16, near the main pool deck and kids' water park — a one-stop family floor by day.
